The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed charges against four former members of the banned Popular Front of India (PFI) for harbouring individuals involved in the murder of Ramalingam. The chargesheet, submitted to the Special NIA Court in Poonamallee, Chennai, names K. Mohideen, Mohamed Imran, Thameem Ansari, and Asmath. They are accused of knowingly sheltering the assailants and conspirators responsible for the attack on Ramalingam, which occurred on February 5, 2019, in Thirubhuvanam. This attack was part of a broader conspiracy aimed at fostering communal discord and terror. NIA investigations revealed that the accused harboured two proclaimed offenders, Mohamed Burhanudeen and Mohamed Nabil Hassan, for nearly six years, fully aware of their involvement in the murder. Previously, the NIA had charged 18 individuals in this case, including six absconding offenders, and has since arrested four of them. The agency also apprehended two additional harbourers in connection with the case. The investigation remains active as the NIA continues to pursue leads.
