Saokot Molla, a former Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA, was presented before the National Investigation Agency (NIA) court as the prime suspect in a bomb blast case in Bhangar, West Bengal. The incident occurred during the bomb manufacturing process ahead of the assembly elections, resulting in the death of one bomb maker and injuries to others. Molla, who was arrested in South 24 Parganas after being on the run, is accused of being the key conspirator, instructing others in the bomb-making and tampering with the explosion scene. His arrest follows that of Sainur Molla, who transported the deceased and injured individuals post-blast. The NIA, which took over the investigation from the Kolkata police, is looking into the broader conspiracy linked to the case, which includes the recovery of 79 crude bombs and other incriminating materials. The Ministry of Home Affairs directed the NIA to examine potential terror angles associated with the incident.
