On Friday night, a Knicks watch party outside Madison Square Garden turned violent when Karely Reyes, 29, assaulted two NYPD officers. After jumping a barrier, Reyes was confronted by police and subsequently punched a female officer, leaving her with a bloody gash that required stitches. Reyes also bit another officer during her arrest. The incident occurred around 11:45 p.m. amid celebrations for the Knicks' Game 2 victory in the NBA Finals, which attracted approximately 6,500 fans. Patrick Hendry, president of the Police Benevolent Association, condemned the attack, stating that a celebration should not end with bloodshed. Reyes, who has no prior arrests, faces charges of assault, resisting arrest, and obstructing governmental administration. Her arraignment was scheduled for Saturday in Manhattan Criminal Court. In total, 26 individuals were arrested at the party, including one for possessing a loaded firearm and selling counterfeit merchandise.
