The Noida International Airport (NIA) in Jewar, Uttar Pradesh, India, is set to commence flight operations on June 15, 2026. This announcement follows the inauguration of Phase I by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March, marking a significant step in India's aviation sector. The airport aims to serve as a major international gateway for the National Capital Region (NCR), complementing the existing Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. With an initial passenger capacity of 12 million per annum, scalable to 70 million, the airport is equipped with a 3,900-meter-long runway and advanced navigation systems. IndiGo will operate the first flight, with Akasa Air and Air India Express expected to join shortly thereafter. The NIA is designed to support economic growth, tourism, and trade while promoting environmentally sustainable practices as a net-zero emissions facility. Its modern infrastructure and multimodal connectivity will enhance the passenger experience and strengthen the NCR's position as a global aviation hub.
