IndiGo Airlines has announced the launch of nonstop flights from Chennai, India, to Réunion Island, effective April 29. This service will operate three times a week, specifically on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, using Airbus A320 aircraft. The flights are set to enhance connectivity to Réunion, which has a significant Indian-origin population of nearly 300,000 residents, making up over one-third of the island's total population. The new route is expected to facilitate travel for both the Indian diaspora and international passengers, addressing strong demand for business, medical, and leisure travel. Réunion Island is renowned for its stunning landscapes, including volcanic mountains and UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and is increasingly becoming a destination for business travelers due to its growing MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) infrastructure. Vinay Malhotra, Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, emphasized that this launch marks a significant milestone in the airline's international expansion strategy, enhancing convenience for travelers.
