On May 14, the Haryana government will conduct a comprehensive flood disaster mock drill across 13 flood-prone districts, including Gurugram, Faridabad, and Karnal. This initiative is part of the annual State/UT mock exercise calendar for 2026-27, organized in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). The drill will unfold in four stages, starting with an orientation conference on May 6, followed by a tabletop exercise on May 12, and culminating in the physical mock drill on May 14. The primary goal is to review and enhance disaster management plans and standard operating procedures at various levels, ensuring that all stakeholders are well-prepared for potential flood situations. This exercise will also focus on improving coordination among emergency support functions and enhancing communication systems during disasters. By identifying gaps in resources and logistics, the initiative aims to implement corrective measures ahead of the monsoon season, ultimately ensuring a timely and coordinated response in the event of an actual flood disaster.
