Mashkoor Ahmed, a government school teacher from Beigpora Singhpora in Chatroo, Kishtwar district, Jammu and Kashmir, has been arrested for allegedly harboring members of the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) terrorist group. His arrest was made under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and other relevant laws after police investigations linked him to providing logistical support to terrorists. The case is connected to a February 4, 2026, encounter that resulted in the death of a Pakistani terrorist named Adil. Police investigations revealed that Ahmed sheltered terrorists and offered them food and other necessities. A photograph of the slain JeM commander Saifullah Balochi, adorned with currency notes, was discovered in his home. This marks a significant development in the ongoing crackdown on terror networks in the Chenab Valley. Following his arrest, Ahmed was moved to a jail outside Kishtwar for security reasons. Authorities are actively pursuing additional suspects involved in supporting terrorist activities in the region.
