The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has made significant progress in its investigation into the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak by arresting P V Kulkarni, a Chemistry lecturer with ties to the National Testing Agency. Kulkarni allegedly organized coaching sessions at his home in Pune, Maharashtra, where he provided select students with leaked questions and answers from the examination. His accomplice, Manisha Waghmare, was arrested earlier on May 14, 2026. The CBI has arrested a total of seven individuals in connection with this case, with ongoing investigations revealing a network of middlemen who charged students substantial fees for access to the leaked materials. Following a complaint from the Department of Higher Education, the CBI registered the case on May 12, 2026, and has since conducted searches across the country, seizing incriminating documents and electronic devices. Five of the arrested individuals have been remanded to police custody for further questioning, while the remaining two are set for transit remand to Delhi.
