The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has identified P.V. Kulkarni, a chemistry lecturer from Pune, as the alleged kingpin behind the NEET-UG 2026 examination paper leak. The investigation revealed that Kulkarni had access to the examination questions through his involvement in the process managed by the National Testing Agency. Reports indicate that he conducted special coaching sessions at his residence in Pune during the last week of April, where he allegedly leaked questions to students. His accomplice, Manisha Waghmare, was arrested on May 14 for her role in the operation. The CBI has arrested a total of seven suspects from various locations, including Jaipur, Gurugram, Nashik, and Pune. Five of these individuals have been presented before a court and remanded to seven days of police custody for detailed questioning. The agency noted that the handwritten questions taken by students during these sessions matched precisely with the actual NEET-UG 2026 examination paper, raising serious concerns about the integrity of the examination process. The Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, has promised stringent action from the CBI and announced changes for future examinations to prevent such incidents.
