In a recent cabinet meeting, the Himachal Pradesh government approved the Policy for Regularisation of Certain Encroachments on Government Land, 2026, aimed at aiding landless families and marginal farmers. This policy could benefit over 1.67 lakh individuals by allowing the regularisation of up to 20 bighas of government land used for agriculture, horticulture, or residential purposes. Additionally, the cabinet sanctioned a relief package of ₹7 lakh for each of the 15 fire-affected families in Shimla district. Enhancements to the HIMCARE Scheme will increase health insurance coverage to ₹7 lakh and ₹10 lakh. The cabinet also approved the introduction of the Agriculture Loan Interest Subvention Scheme, which will cover 50% of interest on loans up to ₹3 lakh for farmers facing land auctions. Other decisions included the upgradation of health facilities and the elevation of local fairs to national status, reflecting a focus on community welfare and development.
