Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a meeting on border security issues in Salbagan, Tripura, attended by Chief Minister Manik Saha and senior officials from the state's eight border districts. The meeting aimed to enhance border management through better coordination among state agencies. Shah stressed the importance of a comprehensive security strategy that combines local administration, modern technology, and the Border Security Force (BSF). He highlighted the need for training camps for border residents to address threats from narcotics and arms trafficking. Shah directed the implementation of a CCTV surveillance model and the upgrading of BSF cameras linked to district administration. Financial vigilance was also a key focus, with directives for training GST officials and examining land records to combat issues like fake currency. The meeting underscored the government's commitment to securing international borders while fostering collaboration between Central and State agencies for holistic border area development.
