Repolling is set to occur today, May 2, from 7 am to 6 pm at 15 polling stations in the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal. This decision follows allegations of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) tampering during the second phase of polling. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered repolling at 11 booths in the Magrahat Paschim Assembly constituency and four booths in the Diamond Harbour Assembly constituency. A senior official from the ECI stated that they are still reviewing complaints from the Falta Assembly seat. The ECI received 77 complaints related to EVM tampering, including instances where buttons were covered with adhesive tape or darkened with ink, preventing voters from casting their votes. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) of orchestrating the tampering, leading to their demand for repolling. On polling day, West Bengal's chief electoral officer, Manoj Kumar Agarwal, indicated that any polling booth with taped EVM buttons would be subject to repolling, particularly in response to BJP's allegations of irregularities in Falta.
