Air Marshal Dilip Kumar Patnaik (Retd.) commended the Indian armed forces for their exemplary coordination during Operation Sindoor, executed in response to the April 2025 terror attack in Pahalgam, India, which claimed 26 lives. The operation, launched on May 7, 2025, successfully targeted and destroyed nine major terror launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), resulting in the elimination of over 100 terrorists. Patnaik emphasized the strong leadership and operational synergy demonstrated by the Army, Navy, and Air Force, which prevented significant loss of life and infrastructure. He noted that the operation was a testament to the training and capabilities instilled by previous military leaders. In light of the lessons learned, the Indian armed forces are planning to operationalize a tri-services Joint Operations Control Centre (JOCC) in Delhi Cantonment to provide real-time operational insights. The conflict escalated with Pakistan's drone attacks, leading to retaliatory strikes by India, including the destruction of radar installations in Lahore. A ceasefire was reached on May 10, 2025, after four days of hostilities.
