Following a significant electoral performance, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) Chief Vijay is actively seeking allies to form a government in Tamil Nadu. After winning 108 seats in the recent assembly elections, Vijay's party fell short of the 118-seat majority needed for governance. The Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK), which won two seats, has yet to decide on its support for Vijay. A senior VCK official stated that the party's president, Thol Thirumavalavan, will make the final decision. Earlier, Vijay approached Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, submitting a letter claiming support from 108 MLAs for his Chief Ministerial bid. However, the governor remains skeptical about the TVK's ability to form a government, leading to uncertainty regarding the oath-taking ceremony planned for May 7. In the election, other parties like the DMK and AIADMK secured 59 and 47 seats, respectively, with MK Stalin resigning from his Chief Minister position after a defeat.
