In Panihati, North 24 Parganas district, West Bengal, five supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were injured in a bomb blast late Wednesday night. This attack followed the shooting death of Chandranath Rath, a close aide of BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari, leading the BJP to accuse the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) of retaliatory violence. The blast occurred near St Xavier's Institution while BJP workers were engaging with local residents on Dutta Road. Unidentified assailants on motorcycles allegedly hurled crude bombs at the group before fleeing the scene. The injured individuals were transported to RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata for treatment. Local police have initiated an investigation, examining CCTV footage and conducting raids to apprehend those responsible.
