The operation began when a woman police constable, Manisha Giri, posed as a pregnant woman and paid ₹10,000 (approximately $120 USD) for an illegal sex determination test. Following her signal, police raided the location near Nilwande canal in Pimpri Nirmal, where they arrested Dr. Rahul Abasaheb Bhanage, who allegedly conducted the tests, along with several accomplices. During the raid, authorities discovered eight pregnant women who had also paid for the tests, leading to the arrest of their husbands. The police confiscated equipment valued at ₹24.09 lakh (approximately $29,000 USD) from the illegal center. Investigations revealed that some women who learned they were expecting girls underwent abortions at Dr. Kute's hospital.
