The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that Karnataka will likely experience scattered rainfall and thunderstorms from April 28 to May 1. Bengaluru, which has been enduring hot and dry weather with temperatures reaching 36°C, is expected to see a shift as isolated areas receive light to moderate rain, primarily in the afternoons or evenings. Coastal districts, including Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada, may experience light rain and winds of 30 to 40 kmph. In contrast, northern interior regions like Belagavi and Dharwad may see limited rainfall. Notably, thunderstorms are expected in parts of southern interior Karnataka on April 30, with winds reaching 30 to 40 kmph. The recent weather has already led to severe conditions in Shivamogga district, where a brief storm on April 26 caused significant damage to plantations, uprooting trees and damaging crops.
