After days of extreme heat across north India, the India Meteorological Department has announced that Delhi-NCR will receive relief starting tonight, with forecasts of light rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds. A yellow alert has been issued for the national capital, indicating possible disruptions due to changing weather conditions. Temperatures are expected to decrease slightly to between 39 and 42 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Banda in Uttar Pradesh recorded a staggering 47.6 degrees Celsius, the highest temperature in the country and a new record for April in the district. Severe heatwave conditions persist in the Bundelkhand region, with temperatures remaining high in Jhansi, Orai, and Banda. The Met Department has also predicted continued rainfall across northwest India, including Punjab and Haryana, from April 27 to 30 and again on May 2 and 3. Residents are advised to avoid direct sun exposure and stay hydrated as conditions gradually improve.
