In response to rising temperatures, the Indian Union labor and health ministries have issued advisories to all states and union territories. The advisories emphasize the need for adequate rest and cooling measures for outdoor and factory workers, particularly for vulnerable groups such as construction and daily wage laborers. The labor ministry has instructed state chief secretaries to enable establishments to adjust working hours and enhance manpower to manage workloads effectively. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts above-normal heatwave conditions across large parts of the country from April to June. To address health risks, the health ministry has directed states to establish dedicated heat stroke management units in health facilities, ensure operational ambulance services, and disseminate early warnings to communities. Health secretary Punya Salila Srivastava highlighted the importance of timely reporting to track the crisis and mobilize necessary resources.
