The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially cancelled the NEET UG 2026 exam, originally scheduled for May 3, following serious allegations of a paper leak that compromised the exam's integrity. Investigations revealed that nearly 120 questions, including 90 in Biology and 30 in Chemistry, matched a leaked 'guess paper'. As a result, the Union government has ordered a comprehensive investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). In response to student concerns, the NTA confirmed that no additional fees will be charged for the re-exam, and fees already paid will be refunded. Furthermore, students will not need to re-register; their existing details will remain valid. The syllabus and exam pattern are expected to remain unchanged, although procedural security measures may be tightened. Importantly, new admit cards will be issued, rendering the old ones invalid. The NTA will announce the date for the re-exam soon, which may lead to delays in counselling for MBBS, BDS, and AYUSH admissions due to the need for revised answer keys and updated merit lists.
