The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the cancellation of the NEET (UG) 2026 examination, which was originally conducted on May 3, 2026, due to a significant paper leak. The decision, made in consultation with the Government of India, aims to uphold transparency and trust in the examination process. Investigations revealed that a question set containing around 410 questions, with approximately 120 from the Chemistry section, was allegedly circulated among students weeks before the exam. The Rajasthan Police's Special Operations Group (SOG) is probing the matter, focusing on whether organized wrongdoing occurred. Preliminary investigations suggest that the leaked material originated from a medical student in Churu, Rajasthan, and was distributed through various coaching networks. As of now, 13 suspects have been arrested, many of whom are linked to career counselling businesses. The NTA has urged candidates to refrain from believing rumors as the investigation proceeds.
