As Delhi faces extreme heat, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has implemented a series of precautionary measures to protect residents. In a circular issued on April 27, the MCD emphasized the health risks associated with prolonged exposure to high temperatures, particularly for vulnerable groups such as children and senior citizens. The directive includes ensuring the availability of chilled drinking water, air coolers, and fans in public facilities such as offices, schools, and community halls. Additionally, the MCD will distribute ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) kits to sanitation workers and gardeners to help combat heat-related health issues. The civic body has also mandated that public parks provide drinking-water facilities for animals and birds, and the veterinary department is tasked with maintaining water at designated dog-feeding points. To further protect workers, the MCD will adjust the working hours of sanitation staff in line with labor guidelines and ensure timely garbage clearance to prevent health hazards.
