Uttar Pradesh Police apprehended Maijul, a key accused in the Bijnor viral arms display case, after he returned from South Africa on Saturday. His arrest was facilitated by immigration authorities at Delhi airport, who acted on a Look Out Circular (LOC) issued against him. This development is part of a broader investigation by the Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) into alleged online radicalization and cross-border networks. Previously, police arrested three individuals in connection with the case, which involves a viral social media video showcasing firearms. Investigators suspect that Maijul played a role in facilitating communication for extremist activities, potentially acting as a conduit for foreign handlers. The ATS is also examining links to other suspects believed to be operating from abroad, including individuals in Dubai. The case gained momentum following earlier arrests in Lucknow, and authorities are committed to addressing unlawful activities promoted through social media. Maijul is expected to face legal proceedings as the investigation continues.
