Suresh Kumar, a 28-year-old inmate at Tihar Jail in Delhi, was stabbed to death on May 2 following a fight with two other inmates over a trivial matter. The attack occurred in ward no. 4, where Kumar was cornered and assaulted. Initially treated at the jail hospital, his condition worsened, leading to his transfer to DDU hospital, where he ultimately died. Jail officials acknowledged negligence in his medical treatment and have flagged this issue to senior authorities. The Delhi Police have launched an enquiry into the incident, which includes questioning inmates and reviewing CCTV footage from the jail. This tragic event has raised significant security concerns, particularly as another inmate, Rahul Meena, recently reported being assaulted by fellow inmates. Meena is currently facing serious charges, including rape and murder.
