During a recent video-conference, Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan highlighted the necessity of making the Godavari River pollution-free ahead of the 2027 Pushkaralu festival. He instructed District Collectors to implement measures ensuring that no sewage is discharged from the 268 gram panchayats into the river, aiming for a Zero Liquid Discharge status. Kalyan proposed the creation of a comprehensive action plan to achieve this goal, emphasizing the construction of magic drains, which have previously shown effective results in reducing water pollution. Additionally, he suggested that Munikudali Pushkar Ghat be developed into a model site and renamed ‘Saptarshi Pushkar Ghat’ to enhance the overall experience for visitors. Proper advance planning is deemed essential for ensuring adequate arrangements and facilities at the Godavari Pushkar Ghats and Pushkar Nagars, with a focus on maintaining a clean environment for the festival. Kalyan also stressed the importance of collaboration with the Endowments Department to successfully organize the ‘Godavari Harati’ event, which is a significant part of the Pushkaralu celebrations.
