The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has introduced a new initiative allowing free entry to several ticketed parks and heritage sites in Delhi for morning walkers until 10am. This decision, directed by Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, aims to promote fitness and increase public access to green spaces, following the principles of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Fit India Movement. The parks affected include Mehrauli Archaeological Park, Asita, and Kranti Udhyan, among others, where the usual entry fee of ₹50 will be waived during morning hours. Additionally, entry fees of ₹20 at other parks like Vaishnavi Park and Amrut Biodiversity Park will also be suspended until 10am. Currently, the DDA manages over 16,000 acres of green assets, including 700 parks, which are crucial for both environmental balance and recreational activities for residents. This initiative is expected to encourage greater public participation in healthy outdoor activities and enhance the overall accessibility of green spaces in the capital.
