The Modern Coach Factory (MCF) in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh, India, has successfully rolled out its first Vande Bharat trainset, marking a significant step in the country's efforts to modernize its railway system. This new 16-car chair car rake is equipped with a Siemens propulsion system and is set to undergo oscillation trials, which will evaluate its ride quality and safety before it can be used for passenger services. The Vande Bharat initiative, which started in 2018, aims to produce semi-high-speed trains, and this rollout brings the total number of trainsets nearing 100. The trainset retains essential Vande Bharat features, such as speed and energy efficiency, while also incorporating engineering upgrades for reliability and safety. Notable features include comfortable seating, fully sealed gangways, automatic plug doors, and the indigenous ‘Kavach’ automatic train protection system. Additionally, the train is designed with accessibility in mind, offering facilities for passengers with disabilities, ensuring inclusivity in modern transportation.
