The Punjab Police has made over 22,000 arrests in its ongoing anti-gangster operation, 'Gangstran Te Vaar', launched on January 20. This initiative aims to dismantle organized crime networks by targeting gangsters and their support systems. In the last three months, police conducted 62,302 raids, leading to the apprehension of 915 proclaimed offenders and the detention of 10,254 individuals under preventive measures. The operation has resulted in significant recoveries, including 408 firearms, 378.45 kg of heroin, and 1.05 crore INR in drug money. Promod Ban, Additional Director General of Police, highlighted the operation's success in disrupting gangster networks across every district in Punjab. The police are utilizing technology, such as Artificial Intelligence, to track criminal activities more effectively. A dedicated Anti-Gangster Helpline has also been established to encourage public participation in reporting crimes. The Punjab Police remains committed to eradicating gangster culture and ensuring the safety of residents.
