David Burke, known as D4vd, has been formally charged with the first-degree murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. The charges, which include mutilating human remains and continuous lewd acts with a minor, could make him eligible for the death penalty if convicted. Rivas's remains were discovered in September 2022 in the trunk of a Tesla, which was registered to an address linked to Burke in Texas. Authorities reported that the car had been left unattended for over 72 hours before being towed, and the remains were found severely decomposed and dismembered. Burke was arrested on April 16, 2023, and charged four days later. His defense team claims he is innocent, asserting that evidence will prove he did not cause Rivas's death. The relationship between Burke and Rivas is also under investigation, as friends and family indicated they may have been romantically involved. A grand jury investigation is ongoing, and a search of Burke's Hollywood Hills residence raised further questions, particularly after a 'burn cage' was discovered on the property. Following the arrest, Burke's tour was canceled, marking a significant fallout from the case.
