On Tuesday afternoon at 3:15 PM, a local train traveling from Badlapur to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai was mistakenly directed to platform number 5, which was already occupied by another train. This error resulted in the train stopping at an internal signal, approximately 130 metres from the occupied platform. Central Railway's Chief Public Relations Officer, Swapnil Nila, confirmed that the motorman acted correctly by stopping the train at the red signal. Following the incident, the station master was suspended, and operations on platforms 5 to 8 were temporarily halted, causing delays of 15 to 20 minutes on the main line. Services resumed after the train was backed to platform number 4 around 3:48 PM. This disruption follows another incident the previous day, where an empty local train coach derailed near Dombivli station in Thane district, further affecting services.
