On Monday morning, an empty local train coach derailed near Dombivli station in Thane district, Maharashtra, causing significant disruptions to Mumbai's busy suburban train services during rush hour. The incident occurred at 8:09 am as the train was moving from the Kalwa car shed to Kalyan. Although no injuries were reported, the derailment led to delays of 20 to 30 minutes for commuters on the Central Railway's Main Line, which connects Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus in south Mumbai with Thane and Raigad districts. Crowds increased on trains and platforms as at least three local train services were held up. The affected coach was successfully re-railed by 10:10 am, and traffic resumed by 10:45 am. A senior divisional safety officer is leading an investigation into the cause of the derailment, which occurred at a crossover point near Dombivli station.
