In a significant operation, security agencies detained 25 foreign nationals in East Champaran district, Bihar, India, for residing illegally in the country. The detained individuals include citizens from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and the United Arab Emirates. This action was revealed during a review meeting chaired by Bihar Chief Secretary Pratyaya Amrit in Raxaul, which addressed various border security issues. The meeting highlighted that between 2022 and 2026, there were 22,500 cases of liquor smuggling and 779 cases of arms smuggling, resulting in 1,179 arrests. Additionally, ₹54.64 lakh (approximately $66,000 USD) worth of counterfeit currency was seized in ten cases. The review also noted the condition of boundary pillars along the 114.54-km-long India-Nepal border, with 931 pillars in good condition, while 73 were found damaged. Efforts to remove encroachments near the border are ongoing, with 117 out of 121 identified encroachments already addressed.
