As schools in the Ilocos Region prepare to open on June 16, the Ilocos Police Regional Office (PRO 1) is implementing extensive security measures. A total of 1,822 police officers, 315 Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) personnel, and 3,211 force multipliers will be deployed to both public and private educational institutions. Police Assistance Desks (PADs) have been established in all public schools, with a focus on monitoring larger campuses more closely. Capt. Aileen Parayno Catugas, chief of the Pangasinan Police Information Office, stated that police patrols will begin before classes start and continue until students are dismissed. The Ilocos Region comprises 3,234 schools, including 2,827 public and 407 private institutions, with Pangasinan having the highest number at 1,602 schools. Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Ilocos Norte follow with 585, 502, and 488 schools, respectively. This proactive approach aims to ensure a safe and orderly environment for students and staff during the school year.
