The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced a new metro corridor connecting Shastri Park to Mayur Vihar Phase III, aimed at significantly improving connectivity in East Delhi. This 13.197 km corridor will feature 8 stations, including both underground and elevated sections, with 8.99 km underground and 4.207 km elevated. The project is part of the recently approved Phase V (B) expansion plan, which will add 97.158 km and 65 stations to the metro network at an estimated cost of ₹48,204.56 crore. This new line is expected to facilitate travel for residents in densely populated areas such as Geeta Colony, Gandhi Nagar, and Patparganj, reducing reliance on road transport.
