At the Confederation of Indian Industries’ Annual Business Summit in New Delhi, Gautam Adani (chairman of the Adani Group) stressed the importance of self-sufficiency in energy and digital infrastructure, describing them as the 'twin foundation of national power.' He emphasized that countries should redesign supply chains around national interests, especially in the context of AI, which he labeled as a key tool for future development. Adani pointed out that the upcoming technological landscape will require ownership of data and computational capabilities, contrasting it with the previous IT model that focused on writing code for others. He noted that while the US and China are advancing in AI, India has the unique advantage of a ready market for its innovations. Adani projected that data center capacity in India could grow from 5 gigawatts by 2030 to nearly 75 gigawatts by 2047, highlighting the urgency for India to prepare for this demand surge. He also dismissed concerns about AI leading to job losses, arguing instead that it should be viewed as a means to enhance productivity and job creation.
