The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has announced the identification of 14 land parcels for residential and mixed-use development along various metro corridors, covering more than 3.6 lakh square metres. This initiative aims to enhance affordable housing options in Delhi and mitigate outward migration to neighboring towns in the National Capital Region (NCR). The identified sites are strategically located along the Blue, Red, Green, Pink, and Yellow metro lines, with six plots situated in east Delhi, three in Dwarka, and others in Rohini and Peeragarhi. Notable sites include a 76,251 square metre plot behind Kailash Deepak Hospital in Karkardooma and a 1.2 lakh square metre site near the Peeragarhi district centre. The DDA is set to launch an online portal for private developers to facilitate project proposals under the new Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) policy, which mandates that at least 10% of the plot area be reserved for green spaces. The recent amendments to the TOD regulations include a uniform charge of Rs 10,000 per square metre and an increase in the permissible floor area ratio to 400, extendable to 500 with additional fees.
