Ahead of the monsoon season, the Public Works Department (PWD) has pinpointed 448 waterlogging-prone locations across Delhi, with a focus on accountability and rapid response. This initiative, based on data from the last three years, includes 177 points from 2025, 147 from 2024, and 124 from 2023. Each site has been assigned a responsible engineering officer to ensure preventive measures such as drain cleaning and pump deployment are completed before heavy rains. Cameras will be installed for 24-hour surveillance, with a command center operational by June. Past monsoons have seen severe flooding in areas like Minto Bridge and Pragati Maidan, causing significant traffic disruptions. The PWD, which maintains approximately 1,400 km of roads in Delhi, collaborates with other civic agencies to manage flood control and drainage operations during the rainy season.
