Delhi's Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh is actively seeking suggestions from drivers, conductors, and depot managers to improve last-mile connectivity as part of a route rationalization exercise for electric buses. This initiative, conducted in partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, aims to optimize the deployment of nine-metre DEVI electric buses across 496 routes in the city. The exercise is expected to be completed within two months and includes 121 routes in the east zone, 181 in the west, and 194 in the north zone, with work ongoing for the south zone. Singh emphasized the importance of incorporating on-ground insights from experienced transport staff to enhance the passenger experience. Additionally, the minister reviewed interstate electric bus operations, highlighting successful routes such as Delhi-Sonipat and Delhi-Ghaziabad, with plans to expand services to Rewari, Karnal, Alwar, and Jewar. The department is also considering proposals to improve bus connectivity to key religious sites, aiming to provide affordable travel options for residents.
