On May 7, the Delhi transport department issued an order requiring all registered motor driving training schools and zonal offices to implement biometric attendance and Aadhaar-based e-KYC for refresher training courses linked to heavy motor vehicle (HMV) driving license renewals. This initiative is designed to streamline attendance and verify the identities of drivers undergoing mandatory training. A software module developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) will facilitate this process. The refresher training program, which has been mandatory since October 1998, is essential for commercial drivers renewing their licenses. The training can be conducted over one or two days, depending on the institute, and drivers must submit their training certificates during the renewal process. The transport department has provided a list of UIDAI-certified biometric authentication devices compatible with the new system. Additionally, district transport officers are tasked with submitting compliance reports to ensure the system's effective implementation across Delhi's training centers.
