In a significant anti-encroachment operation, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) demolished more than 50 structures, including religious sites, in the Jagatpura area to restore a key road to its sanctioned width of 80 feet. The road had been narrowed to 25-30 feet due to illegal encroachments, affecting connectivity for commuters along the approximately 1.5-kilometre stretch. The operation, which took place on a Monday, involved the removal of a mosque and two temples, as confirmed by Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Rajeev Pachar. To ensure public safety and prevent disturbances, authorities deployed around 3,000 police personnel and utilized drone surveillance. Mobile internet services were suspended across various police jurisdictions in Jaipur, affecting messaging platforms to maintain order. Power supply was also cut in the Nandpuri area to prevent the use of home Wi-Fi networks. The JDA asserts that the road-widening project will alleviate traffic congestion and enhance access for residents from more than 50 localities, improving travel towards Malviya Nagar and other key areas.
