In Jaipur, mobile internet services have been suspended in several areas as the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) initiates an anti-encroachment drive targeting five religious structures, including a mosque and two temples. This operation is part of a plan to widen a road near the Nandpuri underpass in Jagatpura to 80 feet. Approximately 3,000 police personnel have been deployed to maintain order during the demolition, which also includes a satsang building and a mazar. Prior to this action, the JDA cleared 134 encroachments and had provided time for voluntary demolition by stakeholders, but the deadline has now passed. To prevent potential unrest, mobile internet services, bulk SMS, and social media platforms will remain suspended from 12 am on June 8 to midnight on June 9 in the Jaipur North and Jaipur East police districts, while voice calls will still be operational. Divisional Commissioner V Saravan Kumar stated that the suspension aims to curb the spread of rumors. Authorities are also monitoring the area with drone surveillance and have temporarily disconnected electricity supply to enhance security measures during the operation.
