Chandranath Rath, a personal assistant to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Suvendu Adhikari, was murdered in an execution-style shooting in Madhyamgram, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal. Rath had visited his family in Medinipur just hours before the incident, where he expressed his busyness due to an upcoming oath-taking ceremony. His family, particularly his mother Hasirani Rath, believes that his murder was politically motivated, alleging that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) orchestrated the killing due to Rath's support for Adhikari during elections. Following the murder, the TMC condemned the act and called for a thorough investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The police and the West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) are currently investigating the case. Rath's family is demanding justice, with his mother advocating for life imprisonment for the killers, reflecting her grief and desire for justice without capital punishment.
