The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has refuted claims of pressuring Tamil Nadu's Governor RV Arlekar regarding actor Vijay's political standing. Following the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam's (TVK) surprising victory in the recent elections, where they secured 108 out of 234 seats, the Governor remains skeptical about their ability to form a government without a clear majority. The halfway mark is 118 seats, meaning Vijay requires support from at least 10 more MLAs. BJP spokesperson Narayanan Thirupathy emphasized that the TVK must demonstrate its majority constitutionally. The Congress party has already pledged its support, contributing an additional five MLAs to Vijay's coalition efforts. Despite these developments, the Governor has questioned Vijay about his administration plans and potential coalition partners. Vijay has expressed readiness to undergo a floor test to prove his majority.
