In a significant political shift, the Congress party in Tamil Nadu has announced its support for actor-politician Vijay's Tamil Nadu Thowheed Jamath (TVK) to form the government, effectively ending its long-standing alliance with the Dravidian major, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). AICC Tamil Nadu in-charge Girish Chodankar stated that the support is contingent upon the TVK's commitment to exclude any communal forces that do not adhere to the Constitution of India from the alliance. This new partnership is not only aimed at government formation but also seeks to restore the glory of former Chief Minister Kamaraj, emphasizing ideals of social justice championed by Thanthai Periyar and constitutional values advocated by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. The alliance is designed to be mutually respectful and will extend to future elections, including local bodies, the Lok Sabha, and the Rajya Sabha.
