Customs officials at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai seized nearly ₹20 crore worth of suspected hydroponic weed and foreign currency exceeding ₹93 lakh in three separate incidents between May 7 and 8, 2023. In the first case, officials intercepted a passenger traveling from Jamnagar to Dubai who was found with USD 100,000 (approximately ₹93 lakh) in undeclared cash, violating foreign exchange regulations. In a second operation, 17.9 kg of suspected hydroponic weed, valued at around ₹17.91 crore, was seized from a passenger arriving from Bangkok on a Thai Airways flight. Additionally, 1.9 kg of hydroponic weed worth approximately ₹1.9 crore was confiscated from two other passengers arriving from Bangkok on an Air India flight. Investigations are ongoing to trace the source of the seized cash and drugs.
