The Public Works Department (PWD) of Delhi is undertaking a significant beautification project along the Ring Road stretch between Shanti Van and the Rajghat intersection. The initiative aims to attract tourists and improve road connectivity in a region of national and international importance. The project will involve the installation of decorative street lights and lamps, with smart LED lights replacing existing sodium lights. The estimated cost of the project is ₹96 lakh (approximately $115,000 USD), and once the contract is awarded, the work is expected to be completed within two months. Additionally, the PWD plans to implement a U-turn traffic system to alleviate congestion at the Shanti Van and Rajghat crossings, aiming to create a signal-free environment and streamline traffic flow. This trial infrastructure project will assess the effectiveness of the new system, potentially leading to similar improvements at other congested junctions along the Ring Road.
