The Karnataka government has initiated two inquiry committees to investigate the collapse of a compound wall at Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital in Bengaluru, which tragically resulted in the deaths of seven individuals on April 29 due to heavy rains. One committee, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Bengaluru Urban District and the Yelahanka Tahsildar, will conduct local inquiries, while a five-member panel headed by retired Chief Engineer Mohan K will focus on technical aspects. The government order emphasized that the wall's collapse was due to inadequate maintenance and directed the Public Works Department to provide an explanation from relevant officials. The committees will assess various factors, including the wall's construction year, materials used, and compliance with maintenance norms. Following the incident, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah ordered the suspension of an executive engineer associated with the case.
