Saokat Molla, a former Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Canning Purba and a member of the Trinamool Congress party, has been arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) as the key conspirator in the Bhangar bomb blast case in West Bengal. This incident, which took place on March 19, resulted in the death of one bomb maker and injuries to several others during the manufacturing of a crude bomb. Molla, who had been evading capture, was apprehended in the South 24 Parganas district following extensive searches by the NIA. Investigators revealed that Molla not only directed the other accused to create the bomb but also instructed them to tamper with the explosion scene. His arrest follows the capture of another suspect who transported the deceased and injured individuals after the explosion. The NIA is now interrogating the arrested individuals to uncover any additional conspiracies related to this case, which the agency took over from the state police at the request of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
