The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially cancelled the NEET (UG) 2026 examination, which took place on May 3, 2026, due to serious allegations of irregularities. This decision, approved by the Government of India, follows a referral to central agencies for verification. The NTA stated that the examination process could not be allowed to stand based on investigative findings from law enforcement agencies. In response, the Government has ordered a comprehensive inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), with NTA pledging full cooperation. Candidates will not need to re-register for the re-conducted exam, and their previous registration details will be retained. Fees already paid will be refunded. The NTA plans to announce new examination dates and admit card details through official channels in the coming days, urging candidates to rely on verified information and avoid unverified social media reports. Acknowledging the inconvenience caused, the NTA emphasized that the decision was made to maintain trust in the national examination system.
