The incident occurred on Friday evening when a resident reported that Paswan was seen hitting the dog with an iron rod. The injured dog was taken to a veterinary doctor but later died during treatment. Following the incident, animal rights activist Jasmeet Kaur slapped Paswan in front of a police station, which was captured on video and circulated on social media. In response, the Delhi Police filed cases against both Paswan and Kaur. The police registered a case against Paswan under Section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita for killing an animal, while Kaur and others involved in the assault face charges under sections for causing hurt and wrongful restraint.
